Shade Projects is proud to present Ten: Modern Abstract, a juried group exhibition, centering on the board theme of Abstraction, breaking away from traditional representation and norms. Abstraction is typically defined as “art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.” Showcasing a dynamic selection of local artists that work in a variety of mediums showcasing painting, sculpture, mixed media collage, prints and wood. The featured ten artists include Holly Anderson, Lora Barnhiser, Kevin Caron, Jeff Davis, Denise Fleisch, Thuong Nguyen, Daniel Shepherd, Sam Johnson, Dan Pederson, and Irma Sanchez.
A departure from the realistic the artists focus on shape, form, color and line creating compositions independent for traditional visual references. The exhibition features artists at every phase in their careers that have created beautiful, expressive and diverse work for this exhibition. Mesmerizing colors, textures, and patterns will fill the gallery space creating a truly sensory experience for the viewer”, says Shade Projects Curator, Nicole Royse.
